1983
India wins
their first-ever Cricket World Cup, beating the West Indies by 43 runs in the
final at Lord’s. Set 184 for triumph, the West Indies were cruising at
50/1, however, they immediately ended up at 76/6 and in the long run out for 140.

games were 60 overs, with Man of the Match awarded to Mohinder Amarnath for his
26 runs and 3/12. Kris Srikkanth led all scorers with 38.
2005
The All
Blacks open their test arrangement against the British and Irish Lions with a
21-3 win at Jade Stadium in Christchurch. The win was overshadowed by a
dangerous tackle that saw Lions captain Brian O’Driscoll dislocate his shoulder
in the opening minutes of the match.
O’Driscoll
was driven head-first into the ground by opposite number Tana Umaga and hooker
Keven Mealamu. Dan Carter kicked three penalties and a conversion, with
Ali Williams and Sitiveni Sivivatu scoring tries. Johnny Wilkinson kicked the
main objective for the Lions.
2009
French
center Mathieu Bastareaud admits he lied about being attacked by up to five
people outside the team hotel, after a 14–10 defeat to New Zealand in
Wellington. He later revealed that his injuries were caused by a drunken fall
in his hotel room.
2017
American
Jordan Spieth makes sure about triumph at the Travelers Championship, in the
wake of holing out from the shelter. Spieth, who finished -12, led wire-to-wire
